Church Freed From Time and Space

I interviewed Valerie Ohle a few months ago.  She had been given an impossible assignment: start a new church during a pandemic.  An online church, based in a rural community.  Oh, and did I mention that she’s bivocational?  She’s a full-time paralegal as she’s working tirelessly to do, what many people would consider, the impossible….

Doug Miller is the media director at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City, Tennessee.  The church had been streaming its services for years prior to the pandemic, but still decided to retool for a different kind of experience.  This podcast is full of ideas.

One of the gifts of the last few months is a virtual “happy hour” with clergy friends who live a couple of states away. Normally I see them once a year. Now, thanks to Zoom, we spend time with each other every Monday afternoon. I treasure this every single week.

Today’s election day, and no matter how it turns out, we know that one thing will persist: uncertainty.  What role does faith have in this time of uncertainty?

This week is a treat: three gentlemen who work together to get the services of Kern United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, online, where things have moved past survival mode.  Now the church is ready to consider the larger implications of online ministry.

Rev.
